Meet Joe & Connie
Joe Mitchell and Connie Newman met while they attended high school at Carrier, Oklahoma (14 mi. NW of Enid, Okla.). They married in December 1969 and attended Oklahoma State University where Joe received a B.S. in Architectural Engineering and Connie received a B.S. in Business Administration.
Joe and Connie have now been married for over forty years. During that time they were blessed with five children, six grandchildren, and they have started over seven different successful businesses. The businesses have been in telecommunications, oil and gas services, oilfield water disposal & recycling, funeral services, land development, and a large cattle operation.
The Mitchell’s have both been recognized by Oklahoma State University as Hall of Fame members in the College of Business (Connie) and College of Engineering (Joe). Joe was also awarded an Honorary Business Degree at OSU and Connie was noted as “100 distinguished grads in the last 100 years” by OSU.
The University recently honored the Mitchell’s by naming the OSU Academic Enhancement Center in their name. Both Joe and Connie have been on the OSU distinguished lecture series and have been honored as a couple as Distinguished Alumni.
Joe was chosen as Technology Entrepreneur of the Year by the Accounting Firm of Ernst and Young in 1998.
The Mitchell’s love for the country has always brought them back to their roots. They purchased the first parcel of the 10xXx Ranch in 1997, and in 2004 they moved there permanently. In 2009, in recognition of their 40th wedding anniversary, the Mitchell’s moved into their newly constructed ranch home.
